Megacity BMW Vehicle Future Concept Cars

Megacity BMW Vehicle Project was actually started from Project i at the end of 2007. At that time, BMW began to try to glance at the hybrid car market with the launch of the Mini E. It was indeed a comparison between the use of fuel oil to electricity is not balanced and therefore BMW 1-series and then launched ActiveE Concept which will be launched later in 2011. This is not the last project of the BMW because for the year 2013 BMW is preparing for this Vehicle MCV or Megacity.

From the sketches on display, it appears that Megacity Vehicle body design is indeed very futuristic. It is possible that this concept will change shape when entering the later production globally but at least we can predict the basic shape of this Vehicle Megacity. From the data specification, BMW says that this MCV would accommodate four passengers although there is no clarity about the number of doors to be installed on this car.

An important component in realizing the optimal electric car is obviously the weight of the car itself. How not, the weight of the batteries alone can reach 250kg - 360kg. Therefore, BMW took dugwells Carbon to design what they call a carbon fiber cells that will become the fundamental building blocks of this MCV. With an electric motor that can generate power of 135 horsepower and weighs a light car it is expected that these MCV can achieve the ideal distance to be called as a tool of modern transportation. 2011 Geneva Preview De Tomaso SLS Concept

The model that will relaunch De Tomaso at next week’s Geneva motor show will be this Pininfarina-designed BMW 5-series GT-rivalling luxury crossover concept, dubbed SLS.
This model, which was built as a Sport Luxury Sedan (SLS), was made possible with the support of Italian business man Gianmario Rossignolo. However, fans may be disappointed because even if the car is from Pininfarina, there are several elements that don’t belong to what the public expects from a De Tomaso rebirth.
Even if the name that signs the lines of the car belongs to Pininfarina, there’s more than one element that doesnt actually fit with what the public was expecting from a De Tomaso rebirth. The most striking of all is the fact that the model is officially called a sedan, it is in fact a large crossover (until this official announcement, the model was dubbed as a Sport Luxury Crossover, but for some reason that has changed). Thats exactly what fans were NOT expecting.
De Tomaso plans to build two more vehicles on the same architecture with the goal of selling a total of 8,000 units per year. Were hoping to hear more about the marques future plans after we hit the ground in Geneva.

Press Release
During the next Geneva auto show (March 2011) will be unveiled the new De Tomaso Car.
The new De Tomaso company, Chaired by Mr. Gianmario Rossignolo, will unveil a Pininfarina-designed concept for a premium large crossover, dubbed SLS (Sport Luxury Sedan).
The four-wheel-drive SLS is set to go into production this year using two gasoline engines, a 550-hp V-8 and a 300-hp V-6. It will not be sold as the SLS, but the final name will be revealed during the Geneve press conference (1st March 2011 - 3.30 pm).
Rossignolo plans to build 3,000 units a year of the SLS, as well as 3,000 limousines and 2,000 coupes.
The cars will be built at De Tomaso Automobili S.p.A. plant, a former Pininfarina S.p.A. factory near Turin and in the Livorno factory by the ex-Delphi workers.
De Tomasos business plan foreseen for a three-model range of aluminum vehicles based on an innovative construction technology called Univis. Univis requires just about 30 dies to build a vehicle.
During a 22-year career with Fiat group, Gianmario Rossignolo was a top marketing executive at the company and CEO of the Italian automakers Lancia brand from 1977 to 1979.
In December 2009, Rossignolo signed a deal to rent Pininfarinas factory in Grugliasco, in the western outskirts of Turin, one of three Pininfarina plants.
The new De Tomaso company will invest 116 million euros in its rebirth project.
The Grugliasco plan currently employs 900 people and includes a body shop, paint shop and final assembly facility, while in the Livorno one will be employed 150 people.

Hyundai Genesis HCD 14 Concept

Having ended 2012 with an increase in sales in the luxury segment for five consecutive years with the lines of Genesis and Equus vehicles, Hyundai revealed today in design direction for future luxury vehicles with Genesis HCD-14 concept in the North American International Auto Show.
"We have moved away from the conventions of the industry in many of our luxury products, in marketing, in sales and service approaches, and everything worked fine with the Genesis and Equus now offering a market share of nine percent in retail sales in the luxury segment, which is higher than the five percent that the Hyundai brand achieved in part to detail throughout the industry in general, "said John Krafcik, president and CEO of Hyundai Motor America.”This success paves the way for a new generation of luxury rear-wheel drive. The Genesis HCD-14 provides an example of the direction in design we will be taking, and an indication of what we are focused on driving dynamics and technology. "
DESIGN "Fluidic PRECISION"
The Genesis HCD-14 gives an accuracy of fluency, language design of liquid metal. Craftsmanship quality is achieved through the surfaces designed like gemstones. An imposing front mask surrounding surfaces burnished metal grid with an opening for a deep vertical grid. The corners of the rear boot lid design features incorporated with a heat extractor is integrated seamlessly with the design of the exterior mirrors. If you see the silhouette from the side, the classic proportions of a sports sedan with rear-wheel drive get a long extended from the dashboard to the axis, short overhangs, large wheels, glass stylized cone-shaped, and short rear deck. The large wheels were developed from a mixture of alloys of the first lightweight carbon fiber evacuated in the areas surrounding the wheel design.
"We have injected Genesis HCD-14 on the road presence of a luxury sports coupe, four-door," said Christopher Chapman, chief designer at Hyundai Design North America. "Its sleek, lightweight silhouette punishes not the wind, but uses the precision of fluency with the dramatic surfaces leaving the natural resistance running. Inside, the dramatic design prioritizes a booth focused on the driver, with the buttons Infotainment well within reach. Details pressed plywood and bring a fresh visual interest, like a topographic map in full center console that runs from side to side of the cabin. "

CAB ACCESS FOR REAR DOORS REAR HINGED
when opening the rear doors reveal the same rear hinged configuration, with a single hinge, and large polished aluminum articulating line diagonally from the back door. With both doors open, the Genesis HCD-14 has an inviting and comfortable atmosphere in the cabin. In the interior thereof, the design of the central console dual wave crest is slid from the instrument panel to the rear seats. This theme of wave-shaped design also influences the interior door handles and the heads of the rear seats. Clocks and data indicators for the driver are fed through a fusion of analog and digital sources, with design details derived from aviation. The cabin, with full attention focused on the driver, offers a Central asymmetrical block, with the critical functions for conducting separate functions for passenger comfort. The center console also includes a storage compartment one tablet iPad, keeping it safe while driving.
Active safety technology DRIVER
while the exterior design of the Genesis HCD-14 constitutes a declaration, the medium surrounding the driver is where advanced technology is imposed. The ergonomic engineers eliminated the traditional center block, developing a system of intuitive driver interface, which allows the driver of the HCD-14 keep your eyes on the road in a better way. Freed from the traditional design constraints, design engineers created a template controls devoid of intimidating lots of buttons and knobs. Using a sophisticated system that follows the drivers view and 3-D recognition of hand gestures, the Genesis HCD-14 is able to recognize the drivers commands free of distractions associated with manual controls. Once a specific function is selected by following the light, you can use thumb controls or recognition of gestures to select navigation, infotainment, audio, air conditioning and even connection functions " smartphone "or smart phone. This interface gives the driver intuitively total control while safely maintaining its forward view, using a display (HUD) placed on top of the windshield to a minimal distraction to the driver. This interface for owners represents Hyundais vision for future vehicle HMI and sets a new standard active safety technology for the driver.
FOCUSING ON DYNAMIC VEHICLE DRIVER
The innovative tracking technology view of HCD-14 and the gesture based controls reduce distractions while driving, resulting in a more focused driver function, able to appreciate the daily satisfaction of a vehicle with exceptional dynamics . To this end, the dynamics of the vehicle Genesis HCD-14 take the driver to a new level of commitment, focus and control. An ultra rigid chassis with a strategic use of high-tensile steel provides a platform similar to that of a vault for rear-wheel drive configuration. A sophisticated suspension of five links reduces the front and rear alterations front wheel suspension for a consistent grip during cornering output. A multimodal system "power steering" road feel retains the advantages and feedback gains while the efficiency benefits of an electronic system. Low profile tires and high performance achieved an outstanding response, perfect grip in the corners, and a great feeling when driving on the road. A sophisticated control system provides multiple options deviation that the driver can select whether changing road conditions and driving preferences. So advanced technologies complement type grip tarmac requires an equally impressive powertrain to exploit it properly, and the Tau V8 engine developed by Hyundai is more than capable of the task.
TAU V8 ENGINE DIRECT INJECTION
The powertrain of Genesis HCD-14 features the award winning Hyundai Tau V8 engine, displacing 5.0 liters, direct injection and Dual Continuously Variable Valve-Dual-Continuously Variable Valve Timing (D-CVVT for its acronym in English), for impressive power, low emissions and superb efficiency. The Genesis HCD-14 uses optical character recognition to identify the driver and start the engine start sequence, while the selection of speeds 8-speed automatic transmission is achieved via paddle shifters. The exhaust of Genesis HCD-14 is ceramic coated inside and was tuned for minimum back pressure, maximum power rpm horsepower, and a low baritone sound type, with integrated cooling fins on Exhaust super wide ends.

Press Release
THE PEUGEOT HX1 CONCEPT CAR
The HX1 Concept Car gives Peugeot the opportunity to once again illustrate the marques ability to reflect on new ideas, learn how to evolve and to continually reinvent itself.
The brief for this concept was to produce a vehicle for up to six people, offering strong styling, that is sporty and efficient and at the same time giving a unique driving sensation.
To achieve this, the HX1 transcends the notions of adaptability in all areas, with its extreme aerodynamics (‘flaps are deployed to optimise aero efficiency according to vehicle speed), its tapered, low MPV architecture and its HYbrid4 power plant integrating ‘plug-in technology.
A unique and transformable concept, aiming for maximum efficiency
Adaptive
The HX1 is a prospective concept designed to help envisage future solutions in numerous fields: architecture, aerodynamics, modularity, equipment, interior materials and the environment, not forgetting, of course, powerplants. These considerations have led to very strong bias that breaks from the norm and guided by a theme: ‘Metamorphosis, to give the vehicle the capability to adapt itself to its environment, to lifes conditions, driving conditions, etc. and at any time.
Architecture
To meet specifications, the HX1 has been designed with an MPV architecture with unique dimensions: low (1.373 m) and wide (1.990 m overall) and with a length of 4.954 m.
This allows for a volume suited to pure, elegant and sleek lines that delivers a low Cd figure for maximum overall efficiency.
Four reverse-opening ‘half-scissor doors can be opened wide for ease of access to the HX1 passenger compartment. These kinematics have also been researched in terms of practicality and to allow accessibility under all circumstances.
The passenger compartment is structured so as to offer maximum comfort for the two passengers in the rear row and maximum sensation for the occupants of the first row. If required, two retractable seats can be configured in a centre row due to a clever system of "pull-out seats", based on the same principle used on the HR1 Concept Car (First shown at the 2010 Paris Motor Show); these additional seats are integrated behind the front seats.
Aerodynamics
Designers have taken aerodynamics to the extreme with HX1. When stationary and at low speeds the HX1s styling makes it appear sculpted from a solid form as the moving parts have been adapted to optimise air flow and to enhance the cars environmental performance. The seven ‘spokes in each wheel rim spike, fashioned like a turbine blade, open to create a flat disc surface. At the same time, a spoiler and two side skirts located at the top of the tailgate are deployed above 62.1mph. When moving, the HX1 therefore adapts itself ‘physically to its environment.
The vehicle has a Cd of 0.28; an outstanding value for a vehicle with an MPV silhouette.
All of these aerodynamic devices have evolved thanks to the free rein given to the immense creativity of Stylists.
Styling not restricted by norms
Futuristic exterior styling, sculpted through aerodynamics
The HX1 is a vehicle that is pure in style; sculptured, upmarket and exuding dynamism and exclusivity. Aerodynamic, its sleek, elegant and fluid lines seem to have been tailored by the wind itself. They subtly underline the athletic, even muscular, character of the vehicle. Each surface is sculpted with precision, each detail is crafted intricately: mirrors with integral rear view cameras, brushed aluminium window surrounds, millimetre-perfect panel gaps and flush fittings, etc.
At the front, the HX1 enhances Peugeots latest design identity. The theme of a unique ‘floating front grille, which appears ‘detached from the bodywork has been designed to harmonise with the cars tapered lines. The precisely-carved feline head lamps give it an appearance that is evocative of the Marques badge and history: the lion, proudly displayed on the front of the bonnet. This look is refined by an LED lighting signature, easily recognisable in the daytime or at night. This visual signature is also found in the rear lights, the boomerang shape of which follows the lines of the rear design.
A high-tech and range-topping interior that refines the ‘Motion & Emotion brand signature
The pure and futuristic design of the dashboard and seats, the materials used (floor and fittings in natural oak with inlaid fibre optics, brushed metal, leather, etc.), existing equipment (digital displays, touch-sensitive screens, etc.), designed lighting (LED spotlights, strips backlit by the natural lighting on the headlining, etc.); all of these contribute to create an environment where modernity meets refinement, natural materials meet technology, and so on. This all symbolises the Marques vision of an upmarket, range-topping interior.
The passenger compartment reflects the Peugeot signature:
‘Emotion
The front has been designed to provide the driver with maximum sensation. The environment is very sensory and high-tech, with its use of brushed metal and digital components. Here again, the vehicle will adapt itself in the real life situation of the driver. Indeed, the steering column can be moved backwards and forwards electrically in line with the seat adjustment for complete ease of access. The steering wheel movement loads up automatically when the car is put into ‘cruising mode for enhanced driver stability and comfort. Finally, the central multifunctional display can be adjusted, leaving only the essential information visible on its edge.
The instrument panel is designed to create the experience of having complete control over the vehicle, like the ‘head-up display which presents all of the information to the driver without them having to take their eyes off the road ahead.
"Motion"
At the rear, maximum attention is dedicated to ‘added value of features and passenger comfort. The environment and the materials used are bright and natural, a mixture of folded and stitched leather. The two sculpted rear seats recline, a set of controls are grouped in the centre armrest. The centre console includes a minibar and a coffee machine, a discreet acknowledgement to the extensive history of Peugeot products. This console is adorned with white Carrare marble, specially milled ‘by hand, which contributes to the exclusive and modern environment.
HYbrid4 ‘plug-in power plant: even better suited to its surroundings
The HX1 integrates HYbrid4 technology, an innovative modular architecture that figures in the Peugeot range on the 3008 HYbrid4, the first diesel hybrid in the world; technology which will also be present on the 508 RXH in 2012.
The principle behind HYbrid4 is clever, yet simple: With an internal combustion diesel engine at the front (powering the front wheels) and an electric motor to the rear (powering the rear wheels), this technology enables all four wheels to be driven when the engine and motor work together, for increased safety and traction in extreme conditions. It also enables the vehicle to be driven at low speeds powered just by the electric motor in ‘Zero Emissions Vehicle mode.
Under the bonnet of the HX1 the engine is a 204 bhp, 2.2 litre HDi diesel, linked to an automatic
6-speed gearbox; the same powertrain as that used on the 508s range-topping GT version. Coupled with a 70 kW (95 bhp) electric motor, the combined output can develop a potential 220 kW (299 bhp).
However, one of Peugeots priorities is to maintain its position as environmental leader in the years to come. The HX1 therefore takes us one step further. It is equipped with ‘plug-in functionality: the lithium-ion batteries can be recharged by ‘plugging in the vehicle to a standard 240V mains electric socket. This means that it can have a longer ‘ZEV range, i.e.: it can cover up to 18.6 miles in all-electric drive mode. The HX1 thus obtains a combined fuel consumption of 88.2mpg with CO2 emissions of 83 g/km.
Concept Shoe
Peugeot, when creating its concept car HX1, teamed up with Pierre Hardy, creator of luxury shoes to design an exclusive ‘concept-shoe which would be aligned with appeal, modernity and a unique capacity for transformation.
In collaboration with Stylists from Peugeot, Pierre Hardy created a shoe using materials, technology and quality of manufacture which echoed the interior of the vehicle. In the image of this Concept Car, the shoes adapt themselves to the life of their wearer : a slipper ideal for driving slides into a ‘high-heel structure to become an elegant shoe for a more glamourous occasion.
