Hyundai Genesis HCD 14 Concept

Hyundai Genesis HCD-14 Concept

Having ended 2012 with an increase in sales in the luxury segment for five consecutive years with the lines of Genesis and Equus vehicles, Hyundai revealed today in design direction for future luxury vehicles with Genesis HCD-14 concept in the North American International Auto Show.

"We have moved away from the conventions of the industry in many of our luxury products, in marketing, in sales and service approaches, and everything worked fine with the Genesis and Equus now offering a market share of nine percent in retail sales in the luxury segment, which is higher than the five percent that the Hyundai brand achieved in part to detail throughout the industry in general, "said John Krafcik, president and CEO of Hyundai Motor America.”This success paves the way for a new generation of luxury rear-wheel drive. The Genesis HCD-14 provides an example of the direction in design we will be taking, and an indication of what we are focused on driving dynamics and technology. "

DESIGN "Fluidic PRECISION"
The Genesis HCD-14 gives an accuracy of fluency, language design of liquid metal. Craftsmanship quality is achieved through the surfaces designed like gemstones. An imposing front mask surrounding surfaces burnished metal grid with an opening for a deep vertical grid. The corners of the rear boot lid design features incorporated with a heat extractor is integrated seamlessly with the design of the exterior mirrors. If you see the silhouette from the side, the classic proportions of a sports sedan with rear-wheel drive get a long extended from the dashboard to the axis, short overhangs, large wheels, glass stylized cone-shaped, and short rear deck. The large wheels were developed from a mixture of alloys of the first lightweight carbon fiber evacuated in the areas surrounding the wheel design.

"We have injected Genesis HCD-14 on the road presence of a luxury sports coupe, four-door," said Christopher Chapman, chief designer at Hyundai Design North America. "Its sleek, lightweight silhouette punishes not the wind, but uses the precision of fluency with the dramatic surfaces leaving the natural resistance running. Inside, the dramatic design prioritizes a booth focused on the driver, with the buttons Infotainment well within reach. Details pressed plywood and bring a fresh visual interest, like a topographic map in full center console that runs from side to side of the cabin. "

CAB ACCESS FOR REAR DOORS REAR HINGED
when opening the rear doors reveal the same rear hinged configuration, with a single hinge, and large polished aluminum articulating line diagonally from the back door. With both doors open, the Genesis HCD-14 has an inviting and comfortable atmosphere in the cabin. In the interior thereof, the design of the central console dual wave crest is slid from the instrument panel to the rear seats. This theme of wave-shaped design also influences the interior door handles and the heads of the rear seats. Clocks and data indicators for the driver are fed through a fusion of analog and digital sources, with design details derived from aviation. The cabin, with full attention focused on the driver, offers a Central asymmetrical block, with the critical functions for conducting separate functions for passenger comfort. The center console also includes a storage compartment one tablet iPad, keeping it safe while driving.

Active safety technology DRIVER
while the exterior design of the Genesis HCD-14 constitutes a declaration, the medium surrounding the driver is where advanced technology is imposed. The ergonomic engineers eliminated the traditional center block, developing a system of intuitive driver interface, which allows the driver of the HCD-14 keep your eyes on the road in a better way. Freed from the traditional design constraints, design engineers created a template controls devoid of intimidating lots of buttons and knobs. Using a sophisticated system that follows the drivers view and 3-D recognition of hand gestures, the Genesis HCD-14 is able to recognize the drivers commands free of distractions associated with manual controls. Once a specific function is selected by following the light, you can use thumb controls or recognition of gestures to select navigation, infotainment, audio, air conditioning and even connection functions " smartphone "or smart phone. This interface gives the driver intuitively total control while safely maintaining its forward view, using a display (HUD) placed on top of the windshield to a minimal distraction to the driver. This interface for owners represents Hyundais vision for future vehicle HMI and sets a new standard active safety technology for the driver.

FOCUSING ON DYNAMIC VEHICLE DRIVER
The innovative tracking technology view of HCD-14 and the gesture based controls reduce distractions while driving, resulting in a more focused driver function, able to appreciate the daily satisfaction of a vehicle with exceptional dynamics . To this end, the dynamics of the vehicle Genesis HCD-14 take the driver to a new level of commitment, focus and control. An ultra rigid chassis with a strategic use of high-tensile steel provides a platform similar to that of a vault for rear-wheel drive configuration. A sophisticated suspension of five links reduces the front and rear alterations front wheel suspension for a consistent grip during cornering output. A multimodal system "power steering" road feel retains the advantages and feedback gains while the efficiency benefits of an electronic system. Low profile tires and high performance achieved an outstanding response, perfect grip in the corners, and a great feeling when driving on the road. A sophisticated control system provides multiple options deviation that the driver can select whether changing road conditions and driving preferences. So advanced technologies complement type grip tarmac requires an equally impressive powertrain to exploit it properly, and the Tau V8 engine developed by Hyundai is more than capable of the task.

TAU V8 ENGINE DIRECT INJECTION
The powertrain of Genesis HCD-14 features the award winning Hyundai Tau V8 engine, displacing 5.0 liters, direct injection and Dual Continuously Variable Valve-Dual-Continuously Variable Valve Timing (D-CVVT for its acronym in English), for impressive power, low emissions and superb efficiency. The Genesis HCD-14 uses optical character recognition to identify the driver and start the engine start sequence, while the selection of speeds 8-speed automatic transmission is achieved via paddle shifters. The exhaust of Genesis HCD-14 is ceramic coated inside and was tuned for minimum back pressure, maximum power rpm horsepower, and a low baritone sound type, with integrated cooling fins on Exhaust super wide ends.
